PVC Tarpaulin Supplier in Pakistan

Technical product guidance, applications, features, quality points and custom manufacturing options for projects across Pakistan.

Overview

PVC tarpaulin is the preferred material when a cover must combine waterproofing, dimensional stability, abrasion resistance and dependable performance under repeated handling. It is widely used in Pakistan for truck and trailer covers, industrial machinery, warehouses, construction sites, agricultural storage, temporary partitions, equipment enclosures and made-to-measure protective covers. Compared with a light PE sheet, PVC tarpaulin is normally heavier, stronger, easier to weld into complex shapes and better suited to long-term commercial service.

Tarpaulin Pakistan supplies PVC-coated fabric in several weight and performance classes. The right selection is not simply the heaviest material available. A successful specification balances GSM, base-fabric strength, coating adhesion, flexibility, temperature exposure, UV stability, fire requirements, colour, fabrication details and the way the cover will be fixed. A 500 GSM cover for protected warehouse equipment has a different duty from a 700 or 900 GSM truck cover installed and removed every day.

What Is PVC Tarpaulin?

PVC tarpaulin is typically made by coating a woven polyester base fabric with polyvinyl chloride on both sides. The internal polyester scrim carries tension and provides tensile and tear strength. The PVC coating creates a smooth, waterproof surface and can include additives for ultraviolet resistance, flexibility, colour, flame behaviour, anti-fungal performance or other project requirements. The final fabric can be hot-air or high-frequency welded, allowing panels to be joined into large sheets and three-dimensional covers.

The quality of the base yarn and weave is critical. A thick coating over a weak scrim may look impressive but can fail when it is tensioned or pulled at the eyelets. Conversely, a well-engineered fabric distributes stress through the woven structure and maintains coating integrity around folds and seams. For commercial procurement, compare confirmed GSM, tensile strength, tear strength, adhesion, temperature range and relevant test reports rather than judging only from surface appearance.

PVC tarpaulin should be selected as an engineered fabric system: base cloth, coating, seams, edges and fixings must work together.

Common PVC Tarpaulin Weights

PVC fabrics are produced in many weights. Around 420 to 500 GSM is often selected for general covers, temporary partitions, equipment protection and applications where moderate strength and easier handling are desirable. Grades around 550 to 650 GSM provide a useful balance for truck covers, outdoor storage, canopies and repeated commercial use. Heavy 700 to 900 GSM fabrics are considered for demanding transport, industrial curtains, large covers, long service periods and situations where resistance to abrasion and repeated tension is more important than low weight.

Typical class General character Example applications Selection note
420–500 GSM Flexible and manageable Equipment covers, partitions, temporary outdoor use Confirm reinforcement for exposed applications
550–650 GSM Medium-heavy commercial grade Truck covers, storage covers, canopies and site protection Useful balance of strength and handling
700–750 GSM Heavy-duty Daily transport, industrial covers and durable enclosures Specify scrim and coating performance
850–900+ GSM Very heavy and robust Specialized industrial work and high-wear covers Assess weight, folding and support requirements

These bands are general guidance, not automatic guarantees. Products at the same GSM can use different yarn counts, coating formulations and manufacturing tolerances. If a project has a consultant specification, tender requirement or certificate condition, it should be checked before ordering.

Key Features of PVC Tarpaulin

  • Waterproof coated construction
  • High tensile and tear resistance
  • Strong heat-welded seams
  • Good abrasion resistance
  • UV-stabilized options
  • Wide colour selection
  • Easy-clean surface
  • Custom fabrication capability

PVC tarpaulin resists normal rain and does not absorb water into the coating. The smooth face is easier to wipe or wash than untreated woven material. Heat welding can form wide overlaps that reduce leakage and distribute load better than simple stitching alone. Because the coating can be fabricated into sleeves, flaps, windows and shaped panels, PVC is well suited to fitted covers rather than only flat rectangular sheets.

Its strength does not make correct installation optional. Continuous flapping can fatigue the fabric, sharp metal can cut through the coating and pooled rainwater can overload a sheet. The fixing arrangement, support spacing and edge details remain essential to performance.

Industrial and Commercial Applications

Truck, Trailer and Cargo Covers

Transport is one of the most demanding tarpaulin applications. Covers experience road wind, vibration, repeated folding, handling against cargo edges, dust and sunlight. PVC fabric is popular because it can be tightly fabricated, repaired and cleaned. Truck covers may include reinforced perimeter webbing, closely spaced eyelets, rope hems, buckles, straps, side flaps or custom branding. The final design must suit the vehicle body and securing points; an oversized loose cover can flap and wear rapidly, while an undersized cover may place excessive stress on seams and eyelets.

Machinery and Equipment Protection

Factories, workshops, power projects and construction companies use PVC covers for generators, pumps, fabricated assemblies, machine tools, electrical panels and equipment in storage or transit. A fitted cover can include access flaps, ventilation openings, lifting-point cut-outs or transparent inspection windows. When machinery is warm, wet or sensitive to condensation, ventilation and clearance should be considered rather than sealing it immediately.

Construction and Temporary Enclosures

PVC tarpaulin can form weather screens, temporary roofs, floor protection, work-zone partitions and enclosures around maintenance activities. Opaque colours control visibility, while white or light-coloured fabric can improve internal brightness. If welding, grinding or hot work is involved, standard PVC must not be assumed suitable; use a correctly specified and tested fire-retardant fabric and follow the site safety plan.

Warehouses, Stockyards and Agriculture

Large PVC sheets protect palletized goods, steel, timber, fertilizer, feed, machinery and bulk materials. The material is useful where the cover will remain exposed for longer periods or be reused regularly. Air circulation may be required around moisture-sensitive goods. The support beneath the tarp should create drainage and prevent water pockets. For very large covers, divide the fixing load across adequate anchoring points and allow safe access for installation.

Partitions, Curtains and Flexible Doors

Fabricated PVC curtains help divide dusty, wet or temperature-controlled work zones. They can be suspended from tracks, fixed to frames or fitted with clear window panels. The fabric weight, overlap and lower restraint depend on air movement and the frequency of access. Where people or vehicles pass through, visibility, edge protection and safe opening arrangements must be considered.

Custom Fabrication Options

PVC is particularly versatile for made-to-measure work. Large panels can be welded to form almost any practical rectangular size. Shaped covers can follow machinery, vehicle bodies or structural frames. Typical finishing options include folded welded hems, polyester or seat-belt webbing reinforcement, rope inside the perimeter, stainless or galvanized eyelets, D-rings, buckles, hook-and-loop closures, zips, sleeves, pockets, windows, vents and identification labels.

Eyelet spacing should respond to the expected load. A common-looking interval is not always correct for an exposed site. Closer spacing and reinforced webbing distribute tension; strong corner patches protect the areas that receive the greatest force. On a fitted cover, seam direction should be planned around the geometry so that water sheds naturally and high-wear folds do not sit directly over a joint.

How to Evaluate PVC Tarpaulin Quality

Inspect the surface for even coating, colour consistency and freedom from pinholes, bubbles or delamination. The fabric should flex without the coating cracking under normal conditions. Cut edges reveal the density and uniformity of the polyester base. On welded work, seams should have adequate overlap, continuous bonding and no weak channels. Eyelets should be cleanly rolled and installed through properly reinforced material.

For technical buying, request the relevant data sheet and clarify whether values are typical or guaranteed. Important properties may include total weight, width, tensile strength in warp and weft, tear strength, coating adhesion, temperature resistance, UV treatment and flame classification. Certification must relate to the exact supplied product or agreed equivalent, not to an unrelated fabric from the same supplier.

PVC, PE or Canvas: Which Is Better?

PE is preferable when low weight and economy are the main priorities. Canvas is valuable where breathability and abrasion-friendly contact are required. PVC is usually the strongest all-round choice for demanding waterproof covers, repeated handling and custom welding. Fire-retardant PVC is a separate safety-focused specification for locations with defined flame-performance requirements. No material is universally best; the application determines the correct choice.

Installation and Maintenance

Remove or pad sharp contact points before fitting. Use multiple fixing points and apply balanced tension without distorting the cover. Prevent flapping and create drainage slopes. Avoid dragging the coated face over rough concrete or steel. During storage, clean the cover with water and mild detergent, allow it to dry completely, fold it loosely and keep it away from direct sunlight and aggressive chemicals.

Inspect seams, high-fold areas, corners and eyelets regularly. Early repair prevents small cuts from propagating. PVC patches can often be welded using compatible material; repair tape may provide temporary service but should not be treated as equivalent to a correctly welded repair in a high-load zone.

Frequently asked questions

Heavy, UV-stabilized PVC is suitable for extended outdoor service, but actual life depends on sunlight, wind, tension, abrasion, drainage and maintenance. Permanent overhead structures also require engineered support.

Yes. Compatible PVC-coated panels can be heat welded into large sheets, fitted machine covers, curtains, sleeves and shaped enclosures with reinforced details.

Daily truck work commonly requires a medium-heavy or heavy grade, but vehicle size, road conditions, cargo edges and handling frequency must be assessed before selecting GSM.

No. Standard PVC and fire-retardant PVC are different specifications. Request the required flame classification and supporting report when FR performance is mandatory.

Many cuts and punctures can be repaired with compatible welded patches. The repair area must be clean, and damage near heavily loaded seams or eyelets should be assessed carefully.
